Landing during graveyard hours isn’t the ideal time to disembark from a plane, but what can you do if that’s the best you could manage? It was for that reason I chose Grand BS Airport Hotel. It was within 15 minutes from BKK Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and all I wanted to do was crash as soon as my head hit the pillow. After clearing immigration, I sought information about the shuttle service for this hotel, and the woman assured me that within the next half hour, I’d be picked up..
True to her word, the bus did arrive within the timeframe. I boarded the shuttle and in no time at all (because there was no traffic and the distance was short) we arrived at our destination. The driver removed my luggage then went on to show me there was a ramp I could use to drag my luggage inside. Thanking him, I then proceeded to check in.
Synopsis: Saturdays Residence by Brown Starling is a serviced apartment hotel in that it comes with a kitchen complete with pots, a microwave, large refrigerator plus stove and guests have the option of utilizing a washing machine. Room is complete with a full-size bed, closet, large living room, balcony, clothes rack area and bathroom.
The vibe at this residence for me screamed bachelor pad. They utilize dark and complimentary colors which also give (dare I say it) an amatory vibe. The bedroom for example, sets the tone with an inviting full bed covered with nothing but a white duvet and pillows. It offers a stark contrast to the surrounding walls consumed in shadows even amidst the intimate lighting.
Synopsis : Superior Deluxe Non-Smoking Room with 1 king or 2 twin beds without windows. There is a standard shower head in the bathroom with a glass partition but no glass door to enclose the shower space. The room has an electric kettle and a mini fridge with a couple of bottles of water inside. There was no closet but a wall-mounted TV and a balcony with deck chairs.
The Pros
-
- 15-minute drive away from BKK Suvarnabhumi Airport
-
- Provides free Shuttle Bus Service to and from BKK Airport
-
- Clean bathroom
-
- Bedroom was clean, albeit for the dirty linen of the pillowcase.
-
- Umbrella is provided
The Cons
-
- Very thin walls; I could hear the TV and voices of the family next door, which disturbed my sleep.
-
- No shower door (When showering, one needs to be careful not to splash water on the floor)
-
- Pillowcase had an obvious dust streak on it.
-
- Two-ply toilet paper
-
- No hand soap was provided
-
- Bar holder fell down (I tried wiping it before I could place a washcloth there)
I skipped having breakfast but if you desire it, there is a breakfast hall across from the lobby which serves the first meal from 6:30 to 10am each morning. If you are like me and just need a hotel to crash for a day or two, I would recommend this one; especially if you got off a very early flight and don’t want to drive too far to grab a shower and catch some zzz’s.
Want to take advantage of the shuttle bus service? Just know it operates every half hour. I think it’s a great option to stay, provided you aren’t there for a long while and the above reasons befit your situation. I hope this review gave you some insight, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask below.
